Day 1: Welcome to the City of Poets

Your journey begins as you touch down in Shiraz, the cultural capital of Iran known for its poetry, wine, and flowers.

We leave Shiraz behind and head toward the desert city of Yazd, stopping at historical gems along the way.

  • Abarkuh: Visit the legendary 4,500-year-old Cypress Tree, a living witness to history. We also visit the Aghazadeh House, featuring a stunning two-story windcatcher (badgir) depicted on Iranian banknotes.


Day 5: The Jewel of the Desert

Yazd is a UNESCO World Heritage city, famous for its mud-brick architecture and Zoroastrian heritage.

  • Towers of Silence: Visit the hauntingly beautiful hilltop towers where Zoroastrians once placed their dead.

  • Zoroastrian Fire Temple: See the sacred fire that is said to have been burning continuously for over 1,500 years.

  • Dowlat Abad Garden (UNESCO): Marvel at the world’s tallest windcatcher and the lush gardens that survive in the desert heat.

  • Old Town & Water Museum: Get lost in the winding mud-brick alleyways and learn about the incredible Qanat underground water system.

  • Jameh Mosque: Admire the soaring minarets and exquisite blue tile work.

Day 6: Caravanserais and Bridges

 

Location: Yazd ➔ Isfahan (310 km) Stay: Isfahan

We drive to Isfahan, stopping to appreciate desert architecture en route.

  • Meybod & Nain: Discover the ancient infrastructure of the Silk Road, including a Caravanserai, a traditional Ice House (Yakhchal), and a fascinating Pigeon Tower.

  • Isfahan Bridges: Upon arrival in Isfahan, we visit the historic bridges crossing the Zayandeh Rood river. Walk across the Khaju and Si-o-Seh Pol (33 Arches) bridges, where locals gather to sing and socialize at sunset.


Day 7: “Half of the World”

Today covers the pinnacle of Safavid art and architecture. There is a Persian saying: “Isfahan nesf-e jahan” (Isfahan is half the world).

  • Naqsh-e Jahan Square (UNESCO): Step into the second-largest square on earth. It is a treasure trove of architecture.

  • The Mosques: Visit the Imam Mosque (Shah Mosque) with its magnificent blue tiles and the Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque, famous for its off-center dome and lack of minarets.
